WARNING! Improper use of any trimmer/brushcutter can cause serious or fatal injury. Read, understand and follow all safety instructions in your instruction manual. To reduce the risk of injury from blade contact, circular saw blades may be used on FS brushcutters that have a limitstop, a bicycle handle and double shoulder harness and not on FS brushcutters with a "J" handle or loop handle. Other rigid blades may be used on FS brushcutters having a bicycle handle, a "J" handle or a loop handle equipped with a barrier bar. To reduce the risk of eye injury always wear proper eye protection. Always use the appropriate deflector for the type of cutting attachment, as explained in your instruction manual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Much better product than I expected Just put this trimmer away, after using it for about an hour, every week, for the entire summer. This unit replaced an older Stihl unit, and exceeded my expectations. Starting? Follow the instructions, and it will start with no more than 3 easy pulls, every time. Line usage? I am still using the same spool of line that came with the unit. In previous trimmers, I had to reload the line spool every third use. The shoulder strap, when properly adjusted, makes this product feel much lighter than it already is. There too are many other small touches that show this product is well thought out and designed. Rated 1 out of 5 by Product has inferior parts got this for my birthday in July, maybe used it 5 times, and the housing unit that holds the spool broke along with the cover. It never really fed right to begin with. Housing is cheap plastic. I had my previous stihl for almost 10 years. New ones are poor quality. October 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ask the 'Answer People' at Stihl Extremely easy to start, relatively quiet, idles smoothly. This solidly built trimmer is a bit heavy in extended use but using the shoulder strap negated the weight factor and made it a pleasure to use. October 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Trimmer I can't recommend this enough!! First of all, it's the perfect size for me, I'm 6' 3" and this trimmer is the perfect length for me. It starts every time, usually the first pull, light weight, durable construction, the line feeds very nicely, powerful yet quiet! I have owned a lot of trimmers over the years, and this one is by far the best! October 6, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good trimmer Easy start well built trimmer. Had several different trimmer in my life and stihl is the best by far. Worth the money. October 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great trimmer In the past year, I have never had any trouble with my Stihl trimmer. Starts every time if not on the 1st pull, but on the 2nd. Love it. October 3, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Some annoying issues For years, I have had one of the big box store homeowner trimmer. The last one I got about five years out of it before it began to have starting issues. Until then, I really never had a problem with it. So, after hearing how poor the quality was on the latest generation of trimmers, I decided to spend a bit more and try Stihl based on their quality reputation.Within two minutes of starting up the new trimmer, I began to wonder if I made a mistake. After half an hour, I think I did.My main use is to trim where the grass meets the paver walkway and the concrete curbing surrounding the grass. I trim before I mow so that all the clippings get mulched by the mower. Here is my biggest issues:All of my previous trimmers rotated clockwise as you operated it. The Stihl rotates counter clockwise. What this does for me is to take all the clippings and throw it on the sidewalk or in the ornamental rock that surrounds my yard. What use to be a clean and quick job was now a mess that required me to get out the blower and sweep up the sidewalk before I mowed. It had been a while since I trimmed, so the first time using the Stihl turned into an absolute mess in my yard. I have to learn a different way to operate it which I find to be very awkward. The second problem I had was with the line. With my old cheap trimmer, the only time I needed to mess with the line was when it ran out. In the half hour I used the new trimmer, I had to disassemble the head seven times. I don’t know if this is because a cheap string is included or if it is something mechanical. Every time the string got worn it would snap inside the head causing me to pull it all apart to get new line out once again. Extremely aggravating for it to happen that many times in my 30’x30’ back yard. The instructions say that to remove the head just requires one to squeeze the tabs and withdraw the spool. Well if you have hands like Grape Ape (cartoon reference), then you can easily get this apart. I had to get a screw driver and keep it with me to pry back the tab to get it open, very frustrating. Some minor things I had issue with:The plastic near the exhaust still got uncomfortably hot when I rested my arm against it in the normal position I hold to operate it.I miss having a head that rotates so I can easily use it as an edger. So, this was my first impressing. Maybe it will change, but I don’t think so. I see extra work and frustration in my future. September 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by great trimmer for home owners that have more than an acre or more. I bought one for doing our property that is an acre large. it is very easy to start, and has plenty of power. September 29, 2016
